Tanto témpore vobíscum sum, et non cognovístis me? Philíppe, qui videt me, videt et Patrem...

Today is the feast of the Apostles Saints Phillip and James in the Traditional Rite and the feast of Saint Joseph Opifex, the Worker, imposed in the Missal by Pius XII, indulging his deplorable spirit of innovation, and retained therein in the Pauline Rite. At Barroux, the monks celebrated the feast of Saint Joseph Spouse of the Blessed Virgin and Patron of the Universal Church with the Mass Adjutor (as was done e.g. in the 1920 Missale Romanum that I have). I don't know what is the Mass of Saint Joseph Opifex.

Am going out for the morning walk; it's just 0530. I have been up since 0200, having managed to abrade my right eye's cornea as I was waking from a deep sleep. Managed to doze (i.e. without the eye being too distressed when I closed it) for about an hour before 0430, at which point I stood in a hot shower for half an hour; the steam always helps. The most obnoxious consequence at present is the semi-constant stream of tears, on my face and through my nasal passage. In any case, this screwed up my praying the Office-- will only read Matins, later on-- and while I distractedly struggled through Lauds earlier will abandon Prime unless there's further improvement during the walk (as there may well be; in terms of the lamentable history of eye abrasions, this is a minor incident: but I tend to be a pathetic, melodramatic sufferer even of such ordinary afflictions as colds, ha). Haven't yet opened the audio recording at Barroux.

A lovely walk, in spite of not seeing normally out of my right eye. The turkeys were near the foot of the driveway, perhaps waiting for the last of their fellows to 'fly' down from their roosts, perhaps summoning up the courage to make the road crossing, perhaps simply waking up. One of the hens had already crossed and was foraging in the hedges and front yards; there have been two of them in the forward position the last few times I've walked that way.

Having put Clamaverunt ad te here, and then Adjutor, it only now dawns on me that at Saint-Eugène, the priest will say... whatever is the Mass of Saint Joseph Opifex: if it is Adjutor, that would be convenient, eh... but I know it's not.

The Mass of Saint Joseph Opifex Spouse of the Blessed Virgin is Sapiéntia réddidit iustis, which is here. The hyperlink because I've realised that I'm not going to put a third Mass on this page.

M le Curé is celebrating Holy Mass today; there are four biretta-wearing clerics in choir, too. FSSP seminarians, perhaps?

Léctio libri Génesis
Gen. 49, 22-26.

This is the point which the audio recording had reached when I 'found' Adjutor. I'm not going to re-listen for the timings.

Offertorium. Ps. 147, 12 et 13. 1:07:40.
Lauda, Jerúsalem, Dóminum: quóniam confortávit seras portárum tuárum, benedíxit fíliis tuis in te, allelúja, allelúja.

Secreta. Sanctíssimæ Genetrícis tuæ sponsi patrocínio suffulti, rogámus, Dómine, cleméntiam tuam: ut corda nostra fácias terréna cuncta despícere, ac te verum Deum perfécta caritáte dilígere: Qui vivis.

At Barroux, the Sanctus is begun at 1:17:15 and the Agnus Dei at 1:28:23.

Communio. Matth. 1, 16. 1:33:50.

V. Ps. 88, 6. Confitebúntur cœli mirabília tua, Dómine: etenim veritátem tuam in ecclésia sanctórum.

Allelúja. V. Joann. 14, 9. Tanto témpore vobíscum sum, et non cognovístis me? Philíppe, qui videt me, videt et Patrem meum. Allelúja.

+ Sequéntia sancti Evangélii secúndum Joánnem.
Joann. 14. 1-13.

In illo témpore: Dixit Jesus discípulis suis: Non turbátur cor vestrum. Creditis in Deum, et in me crédite. Verba, quæ ego loquor vobis, a meípso non loquor. Pater autem in me manens, ipse facit ópera.

Communio. Joann. 14, 9 et 10. Tanto témpore vobíscum sum, et non cognovístis me? Philíppe, qui videt me, videt et Patrem meum, allelúja: non credis, quia ego in Patre, et Pater in me est? Allelúja, allelúja.

Postcommunio. Quǽsumus, Dómine, salutáribus repléti mystériis: ut, quorum sollémnia celebrámus, eórum oratiónibus adjuvémur. Per Dóminum.
