No more distant than the day before yesterday when I was out before five or so, although it felt rather colder than the 52 degrees F. that the weather mages say it is: I attribute this to the fact that (as the mages also affirm) the relative humidity is at 50% only, a far cry from the 90s where it has been hovering in the early mornings. But there are clouds, too. Two cats were the only noticeable life out and about when I was, apart from the automobiles with their obnoxiously bright headlights. There is no saint celebrated in the Sacred Liturgy this morning, hence it is called a ferial day; but in the kalendaria (of 1910 and of 1954) the feast of Saint Placidus and fellows, martyrs, was observed. After Matins diei I myself have continued with the Hours of the Holy Martyrs. The Martyrology:
The editors of the Martyrologium recentior assign these martyrdoms to the 6th century; history got this Placidus confused with Placidus the disciple of Saint Benedict, evidently. I wonder how fruitful a search for an historical Manucha would be (not very, in fact, although the family name exists).
Holy Mass celebrated at Saint-Eugène will be Iustus es Domine from Sunday or possibly Salus autem of the martyrs Saint Placidus et al. I'm going to guess that it's Iustus es because these Martyrs aren't celebrated, I think, in Ioannes XXIII's liturgical calendar; there is also the consideration perhaps that since Iustus es wasn't celebrated on Sunday at Saint-E., and there hasn't been a chance yet (because of Saints Thérèse and Francis)... but we shall see. I'm going with Iustus es, here.
M l'Abbé is wearing white or gold vestments, so it isn't Sunday (green vestments) or the Martyrs (red vestments). Saint Aurea, ha, who was named in the Martyrologium Romanum yesterday. The Introit doesn't seem to be at Gregobase, so it is, presumably, from the traditional Proprium Parisiense. The thought did occur to me two days ago, when I prepared yesterday's Martyrology post here, that perhaps she would be remembered at Saint-E. but of course I then proceeded to forget about her. The Wikipedia writer says that her feast was moved in the MR to accommodate Saint Francis.
Lutetiae Parisiorun in Gallia, sanctae Aureae, abbatissae, quam sanctus Eligius monasterio praeposuit intra civitatem ab ipso fundato sub Regula sancti Columbani, ubi trecentas virgines congregaverat (856).
At Paris, Saint Aurea Abbess, whom Saint Eloi made superior of the monastery he founded there in the city, under the Rule of Saint Columbanus, where some thirty nuns dwelt.
I'll leave Sunday's Mass here, I suppose.
Introitus. Ps. 118, 137 et 124.

✠ Sequéntia sancti Evangélii
secúndum Matthǽum.
Matth. 22, 34-46.
In illo témpore: Accessérunt
ad Jesum pharisǽi: et interrogávit eum unus ex eis legis
doctor, tentans eum: Magíster, quod est mandátum magnum
in lege? Ait illi Jesus: Díliges
Dóminum, Deum tuum, ex toto
corde tuo et in tota ánima tua et
in tota mente tua. Hoc est máximum et primum mandátum.
Secúndum autem símile est
huic: Díliges próximum tuum
sicut teípsum. In his duóbus
mandátis univérsa lex pendet et
prophétæ. Congregátis autem
pharisǽis, interrogávit eos Jesus, dicens: Quid vobis vidétur
de Christo? cujus fílius est? Dicunt ei: David. Ait illis: Quómodo ergo David in spíritu vocat
eum Dóminum, dicens: Dixit
Dóminus Dómino meo, sede a
Offertorium. Dan. 9, 17, 18 et 19.
Orávi Deum meum ego Dániel,
dicens: Exáudi, Dómine, preces
servi tui: illúmina fáciem tuam
super sanctuárium tuum: et
propítius inténde pópulum
istum, super quem invocátum
est nomen tuum, Deus.
Secreta.
Majestátem tuam, Dómine,
supplíciter deprecámur:
ut hæc sancta, quæ gérimus, et
