While certainly one wishes that Elisabeth had returned to the obedience of the Holy Roman Church, the mistress and teacher of all the churches, she lived her life in service of Almighty God and of her countries and peoples. She has certainly been a 'shining light' (Vincent Cardinal Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster) in the midst of the turbulent political and social changes that have afflicted the world during these last seventy-odd years, during my entire lifetime.
Domine Iesu Christe, Rex gloriae, libera animas omnium fidelium defunctorum de poenis inferni et de profundo lacu; libera eas de ore leonis, ne absorbeat eas tartarus, ne cadant in obscurum; sed signifer sanctus Michael repraesentet eas in lucem sanctam, quam olim Abrahae promisisti et semini eius.
