Earlier i.e. wet ones, not snowy or icy ones; although there is plenty of snow left in parts undisturbed by any sort of traffic.
Holy Mass at Saint-Eugène is begun with the Miserere, Psalm L, "pour demander pardon a Dieu pour nos pechés durant cette année civile". And will conclude with the singing of the Te Deum, in thanksgiving for the many graces we've received during the year now passing.
PVER * natus est nobis, et fílius datus est nobis : cujus impérium super húmerum ejus : et vocábitur nomen ejus, magni consílii Angelus. Ps. Cantáte Dómino cánticum novum, * quia mirabília fecit. V/. Glória Patri
It is unbelieve that the Christmas Octave is almost over! Tomorrow is the Octave, the Feast of Our Lord's Circumcision (which isn't being streamed from Saint-Eugène, alas; something is going on with their streaming machinae, so the story goes... how and why today's undertaking is going perfectly fine, who knows). Sunday in the Traditional Calendar is the feast of the Most Holy Name. In the Pauline Rite, tomorrow is the feast of Our Lady the Mother of God, Sunday is that of the Epiphany of Our Lord (!) and Monday is the feast of the Most Holy Name. I shake my head....
The sequence Votis Pater annuit is sung for the final time this Christmas (well, perhaps at tomorrow's Mass but...).
Votis Pater annuit:
Justum pluunt sidera:
Salvatorem genuit
Intacta puerpera:
Homo Deus nascitur.
