And quite by chance, I stumbled upon two videos of performances by Jakub Józef Orliński today so will interpret that to mean I should memorialise them. Two very different pieces: perhaps the most recognizable alto solo from Handel's Messiah and then a song called... I don't remember. Wash your hands, or something like that.
And then Stay Home (not Wash your hands at all):
I compare his voice favorably to a couple of other countertenors I'm vaguely familiar with but who knows? lamentably, it seems to be a fairly easy thing for them to lose a certain tone or timbre with the passage of time, and occasionally it becomes obvious that the voice is being unhealthily manipulated.
